Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas. As much as I love to jam out to “All I Want For Christmas is You” and dance my ass off to Wham! singing “Last Christmas,” I love sad Christmas songs. In my humble opinion, I’ve listed here the best of the best. They aren’t in order of quality, since I don’t believe there’s any merit in me telling you that Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song is unmatched (even though it is). 16 songs. 46 minutes. Many tears. Keep your hot cocoa in one hand, a tissue box in the other, and enjoy.
River - Joni Mitchell
White Christmas - Bing Crosby
Christmas Quiet - Tom Rosenthal
I’ll Be Home For Christmas - Bing Crosby

When The River Meets the Sea - John Denver, The Muppets (trust me on this one)
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Judy Garland
The Peace Carol - John Denver, The Muppets (again, trust me)
Edelweiss (Feat. Niccolette Robinson) - Leslie Odom Jr., Niccolette Robinson
I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day - Frank Sinatra
